Listen first
Play a song without dancing. Find a repeating sound or a noticeable change. You do not need to name every instrument or analyse the music. Recognising one moment deliberately is enough.
One song, one task
Dance the next play-through in your basic. Choose just one accent, pause or change to respond to. You might reduce your step or become quieter for a moment. Stay with a simple, safe movement instead of trying to express every musical layer at once.
Listen together
Musical ideas are invitations. Notice whether your partner can follow your impulse without being surprised or losing balance. Afterwards ask: which moment was clear, and where would less have felt better? These questions often help more than another combination.
